ABOUT KAI ORA
The Kai Ora Fund is a partnership between Mahitahi Hauora PHE, Te Tari Taiwhenua | Department of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development | Te Manatū Whakahiato Ora, Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand – Te Tai Tokerau, Kāinga Ora | Homes and Communities, Kaipara District Council, Health Families Far North, Whangārei District Council, Te Kaunihera o Te Hiku o Te Ika | Far North District Council and our newest partner for 2025, Foundation North.
The Kai Ora Fund is a small community grants process to support innovative projects that address food security, benefit the wider community and encourage employment and economic development in the region. We want our communities to have an accessible, affordable and safe food supply for current and future generations, and to be resilient to future disruption or unavailability of food due to various risk factors including droughts, fuel shortages and economic instability.

Kāinga Ora- Homes and Communities
Kāinga Ora places people from the Housing Register into our homes, providing tenancy services to public housing tenants, and maintains and develops public houses.
